Industrial Streams

Kneeling alongside a polluted stream, thoughts turn to memories of a time with an Abundance of Love. Persistent syncopated percussion trickles along the stream covered with a deep slick of dark bass. Announcements urging positivity emerge garbled from damaged public speakers while arpeggiated keys float in the air with an agenda. Only for a brief interlude, a heavy truck wobbles by filled with a load of hazardous bass destined for wastelands and thoughts again drift back to a better time colored in cold hues by hindsight. But remembrance turns to dwelling in circles after three minutes and the stories are repeated with no more than mood to carry them along for the rest of the experience. Photo by yellowstoneguy.

Glad you enjoyed the photo and I’ve enjoyed your use of it here. I wish I could’ve had this soundtrack blazing when I was shooting the photo. The photo is of the “nickel” bridge in Richmond, Virginia, which crosses over the James River. It is a toll bridge which historically only cost a nickel to cross. I work 2nd shift and had noticed how pretty this bridge was late at night. I once read a book called from paris to the moon, and it reminded me of a launch way for an aircraft; this bridge is unique in that at both ends of the bridge the road quickly rises up a hill, so in reality you’re actually looking down. Thanks for so artistically pairing this photo with your music and poetry. Very nice.

    Thanks,
    Jacob
