So is the content of hip hop beginning to change? There’s lots of talk of recession rap these days, usually sparked by the Cameron joint, where he rhymes about the ins-and-outs of a low paying job. Lamin, from Dutty Artz, sent over news of a mix he made called the Recession Rap Jams. Evidence of a shift? Well, I don’t know that the G-Side joint where my man says he’s eatin’ lobster tails counts as a recession rap. But Joell Ortiz is ’bout his money! First verse is on topic - and fire, too.
